Nervous? Understandable! You are not alone, many people are apprehensive about dental treatment. Whether you are three, or eighty three, Dr Paul Stephens, of 7to7dentist.com in Wyoming, is happy to serve the nervous. Happy gas is a sweet smelling gas, that makes you feel all nice and happy (hence the name, laughing gas, or happy gas!). Its correct name is nitrous oxide, a very sweet smelling gas. When you breath in the happy gas,it goes into your lungs, and bloodstream almost immediately. We can easily adjust the level of nitrous oxide up or down. It is exceptional for anxious kids, and adults who may be anxious, due to past dental treatment. Laughing gas is very safe, and well tolerated by all. It is, however, important to have someone drive you home. If Dr Stephens feels happy gas is not appropriate for an anxious patient, he is happy to arrange for intravenous sedation, or a general anaesthetic elsewhere on the central coast. Usually, this not needed, as happy gas
is an excellent, safe, and (dare I say it) fun way to have your dental treatment done. Happy gas is a sweet smelling gas that allows almost total relaxation for even the most anxious people.

Digital radiographs (x rays) mean less exposure, and better record keeping. Here at 7to7dentist.com, we use sensors, which are much more sensitive than traditional films. Therefore, much less exposure is needed. Digital x rays also have many other advantages. They can be viewed on a computer screen, and explanations are much easier to understand, when something can be seen on a computer screen.
When the image is inside the computer, it can have special image processing techniques to enhance the image for different dental applications. Perhaps the most common, and impressive, is the zoom function. This allows the tooth and bone to be shown much larger than it is in the mouth. There is a massive trend both Australia, and worldwide, towards digital charting, digital records, and digital x rays. There are many advantages of records kept on a hard drive, as opposed to paper.
Digital records are never lost, xrays never ‘disappear’ or simply ‘cant be found’. Paper cards are subject to human error,, an old film xrays are often lost, or, if not developed properly, can be diagnostically useless after only a year. It is also possible to email digital xrays around the world very easily! Exposure time is up to 90% less than with standard x-rays. Radiographs are important to check the health of your teeth and gums. They are excellent at showing up decay in between teeth, and decay underneath old fillings. Dental x-rays are also important to assess any gum problems, periodontal issues, and with wisdom teeth. They can also be used to see abcesses on teeth, and fractures
